The name is deliberate.
Applied Dispersions is a specialist contract lab and consultancy for dispersion science — the behavior of emulsions, foams, and suspensions. Applied means real formulation and product problems, measured and solved, not academic research.
The principal
The practice is led by a scientist with a PhD in colloid chemistry and roughly thirty years in particle characterization, dispersion analysis, and colloid and interface science — spanning specialty chemicals and coatings, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and biotech, petroleum, nanomaterials, and national laboratories.
Our approach
We believe measurements should be defensible and claims should be earned. Dispersion science attracts a lot of marketing — effects asserted louder than the data support them. That’s not how we work. If a method has limits, we’ll tell you. If the data don’t support the conclusion you were hoping for, we’ll tell you that too. You’re paying for an answer you can stand behind, not one that sounds good.
How engagements work
- Tell us the problem in plain terms. We’ll propose the measurement that answers it, and quote the cost and turnaround.
- Ship your samples. By arrangement, from anywhere in the U.S. Work is confidential by default; we’ll sign an NDA on request.
- Get an answer you can act on. A report with the data, the raw files, and an interpretation up front.
Who we work with
Companies that need dispersion measurements they can’t run in-house, need a neutral third-party result, need overflow capacity, or are deciding whether a formulation — or an instrument — is worth the investment.
